What is the Bengal Business Accelerator Program?
The Bengal Business Accelerator Program (BBAP) is an accelerator run by IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP), the incubation arm of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, supporting startups building technology-driven solutions with real market potential. Flora Carbon AI was selected for Cohort 3 and has since completed the programme, receiving mentorship, network access, and institutional validation. IIMCIP later formally inaugurated our first office in Kolkata, continuing that relationship beyond the programme itself.
Why does this recognition matter for a climate tech startup?
For an early-stage climate tech company, institutional recognition is a credibility signal in a market where credibility is the product. Carbon project developers and verification bodies are cautious about who they trust with monitoring evidence, and rightly so. Being selected by a respected institution shortens the distance between a first conversation and a serious one — which matters when the work itself is about closing the trust gap in forestry carbon MRV.
What is next for Flora Carbon AI?
As an early-stage team, we know there is still much to prove. This recognition reinforces our focus on the core problem of trustworthy carbon project monitoring rather than diverting from it. Our priority remains building tools and workflows that are practical for project developers and credible for market participants — currently in use across projects in India, Timor-Leste, and the Amazon.
