Young afforestation planting on a Flora Carbon AI project site

Our mission

One connected system for carbon project development

Flora Carbon AI builds the technology that takes a nature-based carbon project from its first boundary to its registry filing and field monitoring — five modules sharing one project record, with expert review at the gates that decide a project.

Vision

To make carbon project development one connected process, in which every figure in a filing traces back to the land, the methodology and the measurement behind it.

Impact

To bring transparency, traceability and credibility to nature-based carbon projects, helping unlock climate finance with confidence.

The problem we are solving

Carbon projects are built in pieces, and the pieces do not connect.

Developing a nature-based carbon project still runs through a chain of separate specialists and files. A GIS consultant screens the land, someone works through the methodology, a spreadsheet estimates the carbon, a consultant drafts the Project Design Document, and field teams record monitoring data on paper. Each hand-off re-keys the last stage's work, so errors compound quietly and gaps surface late — often at validation.

Expensive

Every stage is a separate engagement.

Fragmented

Each hand-off re-keys the last stage's work.

Hard to audit

Evidence is reconstructed, not traced.

Land eligibility alone depends on GIS expertise that many teams do not have in-house, which slows screening and limits how confidently a project can move forward. The result is a trust gap with buyers and validators, who need clear, defensible evidence before they can place confidence in carbon claims.

Our solution

One system, five modules, one project record

Each module owns one stage of a carbon project and hands a structured record to the next, so nothing is typed twice between stages.

01 Screen

FloraScope

Satellite pre-feasibility for any boundary: land use, forest loss, terrain and climate, scored against Gold Standard eligibility before anyone visits the site.

02 Select

Carbon Compass

The methodology corpus, parsed. Fifty-plus methodologies across eleven registries, each linked to the documents and evidence it demands.

03 Quantify

FloraCarbon

Species-level sequestration over a thirty-year horizon, from growth models for seventy-five-plus species across six countries, calibrated on eight registered projects.

04 File

FloraGPT

Reads the evidence, flags every compliance gap against the chosen methodology, and drafts the Project Design Document with a citation behind each claim.

05 Measure

FloraTrace

Tree-level QR tagging and plot monitoring in the field. Every sapling gets an ID, a location, a planting record and a photograph — the ground truth verification runs on.

Expert review. Software automates the analysis. It cannot anticipate how a validator will challenge the project, so an expert reviews every module's output before it reaches certification.

Impact

People, planet and market

People

  • Working with around 100 farmers to develop an agroforestry carbon project in India
  • Supporting a smallholder farmer-led agroforestry project involving over 2,000 farmers in Timor-Leste
  • Helping connect farmers and local communities to future carbon finance opportunities

Planet

  • Supporting mangrove reforestation monitoring in the Sundarbans
  • Contributing to forest restoration in the Amazon region across Peru, Bolivia and Colombia
  • Expanding presence into East Africa, in Uganda and Kenya

Market

  • Bringing more transparency, traceability and credibility to nature-based carbon projects
  • Making carbon project development more reliable, with one record carried from land screening to field measurement
  • Contributing to ecosystem restoration and climate resilience in vulnerable landscapes
